Thien Duyen Orphanage

Thien Duyen Orphanage was born out of tragedy and an unshakable resolve to help others. Founded by Ma Muoi, now 90, and her husband, the orphanage began as an act of kindness when they discovered many of their friends had died after the war, leaving their children behind. Ma Muoi and her husband took the children in, determined to provide them with a home. Over the years, more children arrived, each one welcomed with open arms.

The orphanage cares for a unique mix of healthy children and those with severe disabilities. Knowing that some children would need lifelong care, Ma Muoi and her husband embraced the challenge, ensuring that every child would have the opportunity to live a fulfilling life. Despite high dependence—many children need to be hand-fed—they thrive together as a family, with the older kids helping to care for the younger ones.

Education is at the heart of Thien Duyen’s mission. Every resource they have is dedicated to sending the children to school, opening doors to a brighter future. Feeding the children requires about 50 kilograms of rice daily, but the challenges don’t dampen the creativity and spirit of the orphanage. The children’s artwork has even set a national record in Vietnam, with a masterpiece that took three years to create.

With the help of solar power, Thien Duyen can redirect savings to essential needs like food, education, and creating more opportunities for the children they lovingly care for. Each ray of sunlight fuels their dreams, proving that compassion and resilience can truly change lives.
